WICKED BREAKS ALL-TIME RECORDS FOR A SINGLE WEEK’S
GROSS IN LONDON AND ON BROADWAY
The hit musical WICKED has set new all-time records
for a single week’s gross in the West End and on Broadway.
For the week 26-30/31 December 2006, WICKED grossed
a record-breaking £873,020 ($1.7 million) in London
and $1.8 million on Broadway. WICKED was the top-selling
show during Christmas week in both cities. The musical
also broke Box Office records in Chicago and Toronto.
WICKED has already been seen by over a quarter of million
theatregoers in London since its first public performance
on 7 September 2006, with over 20,000 people attending
performances at the Apollo Victoria during Christmas
week. The production has grossed £10 million at the
Box Office in 16 weeks.
WICKED tells the captivating untold story of an extraordinary
friendship between two girls: the blond and popular
Glinda and the misunderstood green girl, Elphaba, whose
destiny is to become the Wicked Witch of the West.
