Apollo Victoria TheatreThe Apollo Victoria was originally opened in 1930, and was originally used as a cinema, not a theatre. It was not until its later life that it was converted into a full-time working theatre. Unlike most West End theatres, no matter where you sit in the Apollo Victoria, you always get a good view, all thanks to the cinematic start this theatre had.

The theatre has primarily been used to home musicals, which over the years have included The Sound of Music, Camelot and Fiddler on the Roof, to name but a few. In 1984, Andrew Lloyd Webber's musical extravaganza on roller-skates, Starlight Express, took up residence at the Apollo Victoria, where it remained until 2002. Starlight Express holds the record for the longest running musical to play at the Apollo Victoria.

Other musicals at the Apollo Victoria have included the premiere of Bombay Dreams, Saturday Night Fever and most recently Billy Joel's hit Broadway dance spectacular, Movin' Out. And finally, after much anticipation, the Apollo Victoria now plays host to one of the biggest Broadway musicals to hit the West End in 2006 - Wicked ~ A New Musical.
